Dallas During the Holidays

Dallas During the Holidays.jpgThere’s a reason that Dallas, TX, is the fourth most popular metropolitan place to live in the U.S. Our city offers more than just a warm, welcoming, and stable community. It also offers a community that celebrates life together. Looking ahead, this includes Christmas.

If you’re new to the Dallas area or you haven’t yet had an opportunity to participate in its phenomenal show of Christmas spirit, you’re in for a treat. We took a look around town and highlighted some of our favorite 2017 upcoming happenings to help you and your family make the most of the season.

November 6-January 8: Stroll through Scenes from “A Christmas Carol”

Can’t wait to start celebrating early? That’s ok—the city can’t wait either. Take a stroll through Dallas’s arboretum and botanical garden, which will be decorated with scenes from “A Christmas Carol” designed by the Dallas Opera costume and set department. Admission is $15 for adults and $10 for children under 12. Does this count as an educational field trip for the whole family? We think so. It combines fine art, literature, horticulture, and Christmas all in one!

November 19-January 1: Christmas at Six Flags

If you’re more of a thrill-seeker but you’re still looking to indulge in holiday fun, visit Six Flags. You can relive all your favorite rides while also experiencing new ones like racing down a snow hill and taking a Christmas train ride. While you’re there, don’t forget to take a little R&R at a s’mores cookout party or chill at a reindeer dance party.

November 24-December 23: Go to Grapevine

If the North Pole is the Christmas capitol of the world, Grapevine is the Christmas capitol of Texas. Near the end of November, the entire city transforms into an arctic wonderland where you can witness a twinkle light boat parade, enjoy cookies and cider while making ornaments and decorating a farm, watch classic Christmas films, and find the perfect gifts in unique boutiques and artisan studios.

November 24-December 30: Breakfast with Santa

This one’s for out-of-towners or locals who want to get out of the house for a couple of days while their home is being readied for the holidays by their Dallas home remodeling company. Dallas’s famous Anatole hotel is about to begin its Breakfast with Santa, which includes a delicious brunch, story time, face-painting, and an elaborate scavenger hunt.

You can also take a walk through twinkle lights in the hotel’s 3-acre park. Families of four can stay for $199 a night. If you’re not staying at the hotel but still want to participate in the family fun, you can purchase tickets for $38.99 for adults and $18.99 for kids.

November 24-January 1: Light up the Night

Prairie Lights is your ultimate in twinkle light delight. With four million lights, hundreds of custom displays, the world’s largest animated light tunnel, and a hot chocolate/snack bar where you can visit with Santa, Prairie Lights makes for the perfect holiday family drive. You can get in for just $25/vehicle during the week and $35/vehicle on weekends to enjoy two miles of pure splendor.

November 25-December 30: Take a Chocolate Tour

Looking for a romantic holiday date idea? Look no further than a town tour from Dallas By Chocolate. For $43, you can take a private luxury bus through Dallas’s beautifully decorated streets while tasting the city’s top dessert venues and sipping hot cocoa.
